The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is well and truly unleashing the potential of online fundraising.
As a result of a successful digital strategy, nearly one quarter of the organisation’s fundraising income and 60% of its new donors are now coming in online.
This success has unlocked millions in donations towards the BC SPCA’s mission of protecting and enhancing the quality of life for animals in British Columbia.
Two of the chief architects of this online fundraising success story are Chief Development Officer, Shoni Field, and Senior Officer of Digital and Direct Response, Charly Jarrett.
Field and Jarrett will share their tips, wisdom and insights with Australian fundraisers in a masterclass in June, to be held in Melbourne as part of the Digi.Raise conference.
Leading the pack in online fundraising
Since 2013, the Canadian animal welfare charity has seen an astounding 164% growth in its online revenue. Online revenue from social media increased by 80% between 2017 and 2018.
As a result of its digital transformation efforts, visits to some key areas of the website increased up to 4,000%. The site receives more than 4.5 million visits annually.
The BC SPCA’s sector-leading growth in online fundraising has been independently verified through North America’s most respected annual digital fundraising survey, M+R Benchmarks.
According to M+R Benchmarks, BC SPCA has grown digital fundraising to 18% above the benchmark over the past five years. The result is based on data gathered from 135 nonprofits spanning a range of fundraising sectors.
Online fundraising tricks that work a treat
In the masterclass, Field and Jarrett will show Australian charities and nonprofits where to invest to build their digital fundraising capabilities.
Drawing on a range of case studies, including the BSPCA, the session will help delegates to answer key questions, including:
- where digital should be positioned in their organisation
- how far does it need to travel to reach its potential
- how best to structure digital teams
- what leadership is required from digital staff right up to senior management
- how do you invest in strategy, innovation and technical capacity
Attendees will leave the session knowing where their organisation falls on the digital maturity spectrum. They will also be able to identify where they need to invest in innovation, people and technology for maximum impact.
